The Studio was founded by Sergio Pablos (Chief Creative Officer) and Marisa Román (Head of Studio & Producer) and was born in 2004 as Animagic, a boutique services studio becoming later The SPA Studios in 2010. It is known for the work on films such as “Despicable Me”, “Smallfoot”, “Rio”, or “Klaus”, Netflix’s first original feature animated film, which was entirely conceived and produced at The SPA Studios, receiving 1 BAFTA and 7 Annie Awards, as well as being nominated by the 2020 Academy Awards for Best Animated Film, among many others.
