Cartoons On The Bay gets a new Special Award in the Feature Film category, the Renato Pallavicini Special Award: to the feature film that has addressed a topic in an original way, of historical, social or current interest, of journalistic sensibility. The Feature Film Jury of the festival will award the winner from the finalists in competition. A tribute to a journalist who masterfully chronicled the worlds of comics and animation. Renato Pallavicini (Savona, Nov. 10, 1948 – Rome, April 25, 2022) lived and worked in Rome where he graduated in Architecture and where he began a career as a journalist. For more than thirty years he worked for the daily newspaper L’Unità in which he held various positions (editor, chief of service, art director, correspondent) and on which he published hundreds of articles and interviews on cultural issues and, in particular, on comics and animation cinema. For about fourteen years he edited a weekly column devoted to comics, cartoons and illustration entitled Il Calzino di Bart. Renato Pallavicini has served on juries for major awards given by events and festivals. His essays, writings and speeches have been published in books, magazines and on websites to which he has contributed: Fumo di China, Fumetto (Anafi), fumettologica.it, iltascabile.com, bookciakmagazine.it
